Damning with Faint Praise

Sorry.
I am having a problem with all the sudden adulation of George W. Bush.
Have we forgotten so soon?
A sycophant for Ronald Reagan and never escaped that shadow.
He sold out his moderate credentials for the reactionary mantra “no new taxes”
which eventually caused him to loose his run for reelection when he did
raise taxes.
He is praised for the Gulf War victory but it unleashed a flood of anger from
the Arab states resulting in Bush “43” trying to fight it all over again with lies about WMD.
He gave Dick Cheney credibility, which resulted in “43” naming him Veep
and deferring many decisions to him.

Sorry, but the praise we are seeing far and wide is problematic. He resisted
any efforts to provide support and recognition for the rights of gays and
lesbians.
He accomplished next to nothing in the domestic realm because he was focused more on foreign affairs.

So, how do we explain all this admiration we are seeing?

I believe the cancerous tRump has so poisoned our perceptions of presidents
that even George W. Bush looks wonderful by comparison. We long for the
mediocrity of both Bush presidents.

Lest we forget how mediocre they were….tRump is so much worse that we miss
them both.
